THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE APPEARED IN THE AUG 2007 ROTARY DISTRICT NEWSLETTER (DIS. 7490)

On June 25th, at the Paterson Rotary Installa-
tion of Officers and Directors, The Club paid a
special tribute to Past District Governor Art
Scialla.

Art Scialla has been a member of the Paterson Rotary Club for 40 years and his service has been constant and unwav-
ering.  Art served as President in 1977-78, and was later installed as District Governor of District 7490 in 1986-87.  In
that time he has launched many successful programs, the most revered of which is the Gift of Life Program in District
7490.

When the committee decided to honor Art, they knew that no ordinary plaque or certificate would do. Instead, he was
presented with a custom portrait of himself along with the very first Paterson Club sponsored Gift of Life child, and
who was also the second GOL child sponsored in the District.

"For a man who has already received dozens of awards - his office walls are literally covered with accolades, we wanted
to truly make this a sentimental presentation to Art," said President Sheri.

The portrait mirrored a 20 year old picture from a newspaper article in the Club's archives.  It was created by Paterson
Rotary's own Natalie Marino-Blackmore. She is an award winning fine artist who has exhibited widely in museums,
corporations and galleries. She is listed in "Who's Who In American Art", Rimeco's Catalogue of International Living
Artists.  She has illustrated several story books and has hosted a televised cablecast show about the arts. She works
out of her NJ Gallery, Marino Galleries.

Past District Governor Gloria Counsellor also took the time to recognize Art for his successful leadership and chair-
manship of the Golden Jubilee District Conference, and he also received special congressional recognition from Con-
gressman Pascrell.

The event was attended by District dignitaries such as Past District Governors Gloria Counsellor, Paul Rutigliano,
Dick Oakley, Ray Wells, Joe Dino, Dan Shiver, Governor Joe Laureni, Governor and Elect Dominic Jengo.

On that evening, the Club installed its new officers: President Sheri Ferreira, President Elect Phyllis Gigantes, Vice
President Trip McMillan, Secretary Joe Orlando and Treasurer Sue Amoresano.

President Sheri and Installation Dinner Chair person Joe Dino wish to thank all those from the District and District
Clubs who attended that evening.
